I’ve been here for four days now, and I’ve walked at least six miles each day. Wow, right? Andy and I have taken public transit around town to look at apartments. This has been a great way to get to know our new city and choose where we want to live. Please enjoy this gallery of photos. Also, remember to check out my Instagram since I will be able to update that a little more frequently!
This is Welcome Cat. He greets people the car park below our current building.
Inexpensive (and delicious) finds at a local Chinese bakery. The southern baked goods are delicious!
Fortunately for us, there are fewer cars here than in Beijing, which also means there are fewer cars parked on the sidewalk!
Holy smokes, this was the best french toast I’ve ever had…
We found Hawaiian pizza at Pizza Hut. So yummy, but missing the tomato sauce…
These beautiful flowers surrounded Jinji Lake, which is near where we hope to live.
Taro is a root vegetable like a sweet potato, which makes an amazing pie! Also: warmed pineapple pie is amazing.
There are still decorations up from Autumn Festival, which was right before I arrived.
We found Mexican food! It is so good… so fresh. We will be returning to Luchador!
We also found EuroMart in the neighborhood where we hope to live, which has Hot Pockets (hilarious for anyone who knows the comedian Jim Gaffigan).
The canals of Suzhou are, in general, stunning.
Here’s a small part of the park near where we hope to live soon.
